VOLUNTEER PROGRAM
Volunteer for The Negros Museum!
Program Volunteers:
Tour Guides escort visitors inside the museum building and helping our visitors sharpen their observation skills. Initial orientation from Museum education staff is provided. Proficiency in English, interest in history and people are key qualifications. Time commitment: 8 hours/week
Special event days volunteers help with set-up, installation and dismantling of artworks / displays. Interest and ability to take on a variety of task is important. Time commitment: about 6 hours/event.
Reception volunteers organize and serve refreshments for occasional Museum special events and exhibit openings. Ability to coordinate, purchase, prepare and present refreshments. Time commitment: about 6 hours/event.
Materials prep volunteers purchase and prepare the crafts and hands-on activities that are an integral part of The Negros Museums programs and activities. Most projects are carried out by Museum education staff, but interested volunteers can initiate project design as well. Time commitment: 4-8 hours/program.
Exhibit Volunteers:
Production and repairs volunteers work with Museum staff in building, painting, maintaining and fixing exhibits. Experience with carpentry, power tools and machinery very helpful . Time commitment: weekly or monthly.
Landscaping and Repairs volunteers help with annual maintenance and special plantings or clean-ups. Time commitment: 4-6 hours on occasional basis.
Museum Operations:
Office volunteers work with the Administrative Office behind the scenes on a variety of tasks, depending on their skills and interests. Possibilities include: answering the phone, library work, survey compilation, mailings, computer work and research for public relations materials. Time commitment: varies.
Fundraising Volunteers:
Fund Raiser volunteers help the museum deliver posters, press releases and other advertising materials, sell tickets, write letters, update mailing list and contact people for fund raising purposes.
